Did you know that Netflix does games, too? Yes, I’m probably late to this. But while I knew that the streaming service offers mobile games for subscribers, I had dismissed them as games for kids or game spinoffs with Netflix shows such as Stranger Things and Love is Blind.
So it wasn’t until the announcement that Monument Valley 3, the latest installment in the critically-acclaimed puzzle series, was coming exclusively to Netflix (Dec 10) that I finally sat up and took notice.
And boy, are there some very good mobile games on Netflix. Besides the obvious ones like Grand Theft Auto games, there are other great games like Hades (iOS only), Kentucky Route Zero, and TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge. You can play these games on iOS and Android, though I recommend using a mobile controller for games like Hades. There’s even cross-play, and cloud saves. So you can start a game on your iPad at home, and continue it on your Android phone when you leave for work or school. Just like watching a Netflix show.
In fact, I’m currently bingeing Into the Breach, an excellent turn-based strategy/puzzle game that’s perfect for mobile devices. And there are more games to come from Netflix, which has amassed over 80 games in its collection. Besides Monument Valley 3, I’m also looking forward to Civilization VI Platinum, the most complete version of the game, and a new Carmen Sandiego game.
In short, don’t sleep on Netflix Games. It’s arguably better than Apple Arcade, thanks to the solid game offerings. Not to mention, if you’re still paying for Netflix, you have already gone through several rounds of price hikes, as well as a crackdown on password sharing. Why not get the most from your subscription, and try some of these games, too?
This week, we gave our verdict on the latest flagship iPhone 16 Pro Max, checked out an Asus Zenbook running Intel’s new Lunar Lake processor, as well as tested Xiaomi’s open-design headphones.
The latest Apple iPhone 16 Pro Max is not a radical makeover. In fact, it’s the opposite — it can be difficult to distinguish from the previous version until you spot the new Camera Control button at the right side. There’s also a new A18 Pro processor, which is about 30% faster, but the iPhone 16 Pro Max runs cooler, and has longer battery life. Prices are also slightly reduced, though you’ll have to wait for Apple’s AI features to roll out.
Powered by Intel’s latest Lunar Lake processors, the Asus Zenbook S 14 OLED is a Windows Copilot+ PC with AI features. While its overall performance is good, the Zenbook S 14 isn’t a huge improvement over last-gen Intel laptops. But it excels when it comes to battery stamina, with outstanding battery life that bests its closest competitors.
The Xiaomi OpenWear Stereo headphones aren’t for everyone — they are more like mini speakers that you wear around your ears. But they do let you hear your surroundings, and hence are suitable for runners and cyclists, or those who simply cannot tolerate in-ear headphones. The downside is the audio quality, which is decent, but lacking compared with other headphone types.
Netflix games are worth it for Poinpy alone!
