Images and specifications of Samsung’s upcoming foldable phones — Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Galaxy Z Fold 5 — have apparently been leaked ahead of its July launch. According to @_snoopytech_, the new Samsung foldables will be slimmer than last year’s Fold 4 and Flip 4. The design for the Fold 5 (camera configuration and screen sizes) look unchanged, while the specs (Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2) shouldn’t surprise anyone. But the clamshell Flip 5 does appear to have a larger cover display.
Crucially, it’s hard to tell from the leaked images if Samsung has removed the gap that’s present between the two halves of its existing foldables when closed. Given that Samsung’s competitors (e.g Google Pixel Fold and Oppo Find N2 Flip) have solved this gap issue, it’s something that Samsung can no longer ignore.
We’re also hoping that Samsung is assessing the software and interface ideas introduced in the Google Pixel Fold. For example, the Dual Screen Interpreter Mode for Google Translate that Google demoed at Google I/O (and coming with Android 14). In any case, more than 50 of Google’s apps are being optimised for foldables, which is great news for everyone.
In our latest reviews, we gave our verdict on Dell’s latest 16-inch notebook, a pair of true wireless earbuds from JBL, and a gaming mouse from BenQ Zowie.
The new Dell Inspiron 16 Plus retains the same design as its predecessor, but upgrades the internals to the latest hardware. The new 120Hz display, in particular, is suited for gaming, especially less demanding esports titles that this laptop’s GeForce RTX 4060 graphics should make short work of. Battery life, too, is better than the previous model.
The JBL Live Pro 2 is a great alternative to more expensive true wireless earbuds. For S$199, you’ll get a good-sounding pair of earbuds that’s packed with features, including multi-device pairing and adaptive active noise cancellation. Battery life is great, and the app is user-friendly.
The first wireless mouse from BenQ Zowie, the EC2-CW is designed for right-handers, and has a similar compact shape as the wired Zowie EC. While this mouse offers excellent accuracy and tracking, as well as solid build quality, it’s also rather pricey at S$249.
